Finished basement retreat with warm timber built-ins and tailored lounge seating

A basement is usually the largest untapped floor in the house. The work is deciding what it should genuinely become, a place to gather, a bar, a guest suite, somewhere for the kids and their friends, and then solving the practical constraints: ceiling height, egress, mechanicals, daylight and sound. We plan around those first so the finished level feels intentional rather than leftover.

What the work covers

  • Programming the level around real use.
  • Layouts that work with existing mechanicals.
  • Egress, code and permit coordination.
  • Wet bar and kitchenette design.
  • Guest suite and full bath planning.
  • Built-in millwork and storage.
  • Lighting design for low ceilings.
  • Flooring, acoustics and finishes.
  • Final walkthrough and punch list.

1

Eight to twelve weeks on site

A finished basement typically runs eight to twelve weeks, including the mechanical and egress work most plans forget.

2

Planned around what is already there

Ductwork, beams and ceiling height are surveyed first, so the design works with the constraints instead of discovering them later.

3

Built for how you will use it

Bar, guest suite, gym or gathering space, the programme is agreed before layout so the level earns its square footage.

One team, one responsibility

Design and construction sit under the same roof, so there is never a gap between the drawings and the crew building them.

Dust control, protected floors and a daily clean-down are standard, because most of our clients stay in the house throughout.

Planned in 3D first

You walk the finished space on screen before anything is ordered, so the changes happen in the design rather than on site.

Question? Answered

Common questions about home remodeling in Carmel and the surrounding areas.

A kitchen typically runs six to twelve weeks on site, a bathroom three to six weeks, and a finished basement eight to twelve weeks. Whole-home renovations generally take three to six months. Design and planning happen before any of that, and you receive a week-by-week schedule before demolition begins.

Most clients stay in the house. We protect floors, seal off the work area, control dust and clean the site down at the end of each day. For a whole-home renovation where services are off for extended periods, we will tell you honestly at the planning stage if moving out for part of it would be easier.

We work throughout Carmel, Zionsville, Fishers, Westfield, Noblesville, McCordsville, Geist, Meridian Hills and the north side of Indianapolis. Our studio is at the Indiana Design Center on South Rangeline Road in Carmel.

Our designers handle the full scope, from space planning through to the final styling. If you are already working with a designer you trust, we are happy to build to their drawings. What we would not recommend is splitting the design between two parties, because that is where projects lose coherence.

Sooner than most people expect. Design, selections and lead times generally account for more calendar time than the build itself, particularly where custom cabinetry or imported stone is involved. If you want a kitchen finished before the holidays, the conversation should start in spring.

Start with the discovery call. It takes twenty minutes, costs nothing, and is genuinely intended to establish fit in both directions. If your project would be better served by another studio, we would rather say so at that point than three months in.
