The question every homeowner asks first is how long they will be without the bathroom. For most projects in Carmel and the surrounding communities, the honest answer is three to six weeks on site, and the range matters more than the average.
Where the weeks go
Demolition rarely takes more than two days. Rough plumbing and electrical run to about a week once walls are open, and inspections have to fall in the right order. Tile is the long pole in almost every bathroom: setting, curing, and grouting a full wet room comfortably takes a week on its own, and it cannot be rushed without paying for it later.
What actually causes delay
In our experience delays come from three places, and none of them is the crew working slowly. Selections made late means fixtures arriving late. Older homes hide surprises behind the walls, particularly around drain lines. And scope changes made mid-project, however small they feel, reset the sequence for every trade behind them.
How to protect the schedule
Settle every selection before demolition begins. Order long-lead items first, especially stone, custom vanities, and anything imported. Build a fortnight of contingency into your own planning rather than into the contract, and keep the change orders for genuinely important decisions.
A project that is planned properly does not need to be rushed. That is generally the difference between a bath that takes four weeks and one that takes ten.
